Times of India - India · india

A Boston school custodian, Andrew Allen, donated a kidney through an exchange program to help his colleague's brother, Thomas, receive a life-saving transplant. Allen, 53, volunteered after learning Thomas suffered from stage 5 kidney failure and needed a donor. Although Allen's kidney was not a direct match for Thomas, his donation enabled an anonymous donor's kidney to go to Thomas. Both Allen and Thomas are recovering well over a year after their surgeries, with Allen being recognized for his selfless act.
