Cornell Hires Ex-Justice Dept Official Yates to Review Rape Claims Response

Cornell University has appointed former Deputy US Attorney General Sally Yates to conduct an independent review of its handling of a student's gang-rape allegations. The student claims the university failed to adequately investigate and punish those involved after a fraternity party in October 2024. Yates, now a partner at King & Spalding, will examine Cornell's prevention and response mechanisms for sexual assault claims. This move follows student protests and a lawsuit filed by the student, referred to as Jane Doe, against the university and fraternity members.
