Mamata Banerjee Submits 3 Names, Symbols to EC

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has submitted three preferred names and symbols to the Election Commission under protest. This follows the EC barring rival factions from using the party's name and symbol in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly bypolls. The poll panel acknowledged a split between factions led by Mamata Banerjee and Arup Roy. Both groups must now contest the bypolls under different names and symbols allotted by the Commission until the dispute is settled.

ममता बनर्जी ने चुनाव आयोग को तीन पसंदीदा नाम और चुनाव चिन्ह सौंपे हैं। यह तब हुआ जब चुनाव आयोग ने पश्चिम बंगाल उपचुनावों में तृणमूल कांग्रेस के नाम और चुनाव चिन्ह के इस्तेमाल पर रोक लगा दी थी। आयोग ने ममता बनर्जी और अरूप रॉय के गुटों के बीच विभाजन को स्वीकार किया है। अब दोनों गुटों को आयोग द्वारा आवंटित अलग-अलग नामों और चिन्हों के तहत उपचुनाव लड़ना होगा।
