Spain is pioneering sustainable road construction by using olive pit biochar. Barcelona is testing an innovative asphalt mixture that significantly cuts emissions by about seventy-five percent. Olive pits are converted into biochar via pyrolysis, a process that locks carbon within the road for decades. This initiative aims to create long-term carbon storage solutions in urban environments, offering a greener alternative to traditional asphalt production.
