Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) university has closed its Dr Zakir Husain Library and Old Library due to security concerns. This action comes as protests demanding the restoration of the students' union intensify on campus. A hunger strike began on October 12, escalating after demonstrators were allegedly removed from a garden area. The university administration cited disruptions to academic activities as a reason for its actions, while students criticized the move as anti-democratic. The students' union was previously dissolved in 2006.

जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया (JMI) विश्वविद्यालय ने सुरक्षा चिंताओं के कारण डॉ. जाकिर हुसैन लाइब्रेरी और ओल्ड लाइब्रेरी को बंद कर दिया है। यह कदम परिसर में छात्र संघ की बहाली की मांग को लेकर तेज हो रहे विरोध प्रदर्शनों के बीच उठाया गया है। 12 अक्टूबर को एक भूख हड़ताल शुरू हुई, जो कथित तौर पर प्रदर्शनकारियों को एक बगीचे से हटाए जाने के बाद तेज हो गई। विश्वविद्यालय प्रशासन ने अपनी कार्रवाई का कारण शैक्षणिक गतिविधियों में व्यवधान बताया, जबकि छात्रों ने इस कदम को अलोकतांत्रिक बताया। छात्र संघ को पहले 2006 में भंग कर दिया गया था।
