RBI Taking Steps to Stabilise Rupee, Says Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is implementing measures to stabilize the rupee and reduce its volatility. The currency had previously fallen to a record low in May but has since shown some recovery. The RBI's actions include restricting the cancellation and rebooking of foreign exchange derivative contracts, tightening documentation requirements for currency transactions, and introducing a 20% foreign exchange risk reserve for certain import transactions. These steps aim to curb dollar demand driven by speculation rather than genuine business needs.

वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने कहा कि भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) रुपये को स्थिर करने और इसकी अस्थिरता को कम करने के लिए उपाय कर रहा है। यह मुद्रा मई में पहले एक रिकॉर्ड निचले स्तर पर गिर गई थी, लेकिन तब से इसमें कुछ सुधार देखा गया है। RBI की कार्रवाइयों में विदेशी मुद्रा डेरिवेटिव अनुबंधों के रद्दीकरण और पुनः बुकिंग को प्रतिबंधित करना, मुद्रा लेनदेन के लिए दस्तावेज़ीकरण आवश्यकताओं को कड़ा करना और कुछ आयात लेनदेन के लिए 20% विदेशी मुद्रा जोखिम आरक्षित निधि की शुरुआत करना शामिल है। इन कदमों का उद्देश्य वास्तविक व्यावसायिक आवश्यकताओं के बजाय सट्टेबाजी से प्रेरित डॉलर की मांग को रोकना है।
