EU Leaders Pledge Continued Support for Ukraine Amidst Shifting US Stance

European leaders have pledged ongoing support for Ukraine's self-defense against Russia as winter approaches and US support appears to be wavering. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attended an EU summit in Brussels, where he received words of encouragement. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa urged allies to maintain and even increase pressure on Russia through sanctions. Their remarks follow recent US decisions to lift sanctions on Russian oil exports and consider easing restrictions on Russian oil tankers.
