सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने संभल जामा मस्जिद के सर्वे के स्थानीय अदालत के आदेश को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका पर सुनवाई की। उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने कहा कि वह निजी संपत्ति के विवादों में दखल नहीं देना चाहती, बल्कि 1991 के पूजा स्थल अधिनियम की व्याख्या पर ध्यान केंद्रित कर रही है। सरकार के वकील ने बताया कि यह कानून किसी भी पूजा स्थल के धार्मिक स्वरूप को बदलने से रोकता है।
