Indian Industry Body Seeks Seven-Day GST Refund Processing Deadline

The Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) has urged the government to implement a seven-day deadline for processing and releasing eligible GST refunds. This demand aims to alleviate working capital constraints and reduce the financial burden on manufacturing units, especially MSMEs. CICU highlighted issues like delayed refunds and accumulated input tax credit due to inverted duty structures in sectors like bicycles and engineering goods. They warned that these disadvantages could make imports more attractive, impacting domestic manufacturing, investment, and employment.

चैंबर ऑफ इंडस्ट्रियल एंड कमर्शियल अंडरटेकिंग्स (CICU) ने सरकार से कहा है कि वह पात्र GST रिफंड को प्रोसेस करने और जारी करने के लिए सात दिन की समय सीमा लागू करे। इस मांग का मकसद वर्किंग कैपिटल की कमी को दूर करना और खासकर MSMEs के लिए वित्तीय बोझ को कम करना है। CICU ने साइकिल और इंजीनियरिंग जैसे क्षेत्रों में इनवर्टेड ड्यूटी स्ट्रक्चर के कारण रिफंड में देरी और इनपुट टैक्स क्रेडिट के जमा होने जैसी समस्याओं पर प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने चेतावनी दी कि इन नुकसानों से आयात अधिक आकर्षक हो सकता है, जिससे घरेलू विनिर्माण, निवेश और रोजगार पर असर पड़ेगा।
