TOI - Delhi · india

The CPI, along with CPM and other Left allies, will stage demonstrations across Tamil Nadu on November 3. They are demanding immediate government action to control the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities. CPI state secretary M Veerapandian noted that prices of staples like rice, pulses, and sugar have surged nationwide, severely impacting southern states. Fine-variety rice prices have jumped by 50%, reaching Rs 100 per kg, straining low- and middle-income families. The alliance urges the government to stabilize prices and initiate free distribution of essentials through the public distribution system.
