France Allows Higher Alcohol Content In Champagne

France has temporarily permitted winemakers to increase the alcohol content in champagne to 15%, up from the usual 13% cap. This decision follows record heatwaves and drought this summer, which resulted in grapes with exceptionally high sugar levels. The extreme weather also led to the earliest harvest ever recorded in the Champagne region. Producers are allowed this temporary increase only for this year's vintage, with the new bottles expected on shelves in 2028.

फ्रांस ने वाइन बनाने वालों को शैम्पेन में अल्कोहल की मात्रा 13% से बढ़ाकर 15% करने की अस्थायी अनुमति दे दी है। इस साल गर्मी और सूखे के कारण अंगूरों में चीनी की मात्रा बहुत ज़्यादा हो गई थी। इस वजह से शैम्पेन क्षेत्र में सबसे जल्दी फसल कटाई हुई। यह बढ़ोतरी सिर्फ़ इस साल की वाइन के लिए है, जो 2028 तक दुकानों में आ सकती है।
