Beware of Unordered COD Parcels: New Scam Targets Shoppers
Times of India · interesting
A new online scam involves sending unsolicited cash-on-delivery parcels to unsuspecting shoppers. These packages often feature genuine recipient details and e-commerce-style labels, tricking victims into paying between Rs 500 to Rs 5,000. Upon opening, recipients find low-value items or scrap, with refunds proving difficult as no order exists in their accounts. Fraudsters obtain personal data from routine delivery systems and exploit digital shipping platforms to dispatch fake parcels in bulk. Delivery agents collect cash without verifying orders, making it hard for victims to identify the fraud until it's too late.
