Odisha Restores Rs 110 Crore Konark Land To Govt Records

Odisha's Board of Revenue has ordered the restoration of over 11 acres of land, valued at more than Rs 110 crore, near the Konark Sun Temple to government records. This decision overturns a 1989 order that had recognized private claims over the property. The board found that the earlier settlement order had legal infirmities and that mere possession or rent payments do not establish ownership without a valid title. The disputed land, located in front of the UNESCO World Heritage monument, was originally recorded as government land.

ओडिशा के राजस्व बोर्ड ने कोणार्क सूर्य मंदिर के पास 11 एकड़ से ज़्यादा ज़मीन, जिसकी कीमत 110 करोड़ रुपये से ज़्यादा है, को सरकारी रिकॉर्ड में वापस लाने का आदेश दिया है। इस फैसले ने 1989 के उस आदेश को पलट दिया है जिसमें संपत्ति पर निजी दावों को मान्यता दी गई थी। बोर्ड ने पाया कि पहले के निपटान आदेश में कानूनी खामियां थीं और केवल कब्ज़ा या किराया भुगतान वैध मालिकाना हक़ के बिना स्वामित्व स्थापित नहीं करते। यूनेस्को विश्व धरोहर स्मारक के सामने स्थित विवादित ज़मीन मूल रूप से सरकारी ज़मीन के रूप में दर्ज थी।
