Government Adds Iron Ore to Core Industries Index

The government is set to expand the Index of Eight Core Industries (ICI) to include iron ore, making it a nine-core sector index. This move aims to provide a more comprehensive picture of industrial activity in India. The ICI currently comprises coal, natural gas, petroleum refinery, fertilisers, steel, cement, electricity, and manufactured products.

सरकार आठ प्रमुख उद्योगों के सूचकांक (ICI) का विस्तार करने वाली है। इसमें अब लौह अयस्क को भी शामिल किया जाएगा, जिससे यह नौ प्रमुख क्षेत्रों का सूचकांक बन जाएगा। इस कदम से भारत में औद्योगिक गतिविधियों की अधिक व्यापक तस्वीर मिलेगी। वर्तमान ICI में कोयला, प्राकृतिक गैस, पेट्रोलियम रिफाइनरी, उर्वरक, स्टील, सीमेंट, बिजली और निर्मित उत्पाद शामिल हैं।
