The Kerala High Court has ruled that denying individuals in preventive detention copies of their detention documents in a language they understand violates their fundamental rights. The court set aside the detention of Ibrahim Kalandhar, who knew only Kannada, after his wife filed a habeas corpus petition. Authorities had initiated proceedings under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 2007, based on six criminal cases.
