India's post-independence era has not seen any female executions at this facility.

ब्रिटिश शासन के दौरान बनी मथुरा जिला जेल का 155 साल पुराना महिला फांसी घर एक बार फिर सुर्खियों में है। यह मेरठ के सौरभ हत्याकांड में मुस्कान और उसके प्रेमी साहिल को मौत की सज़ा सुनाए जाने के बाद चर्चा का विषय बना है। महिलाओं को फांसी देने के लिए बनी यह सुविधा मुख्य बैरकों से अलग है और सुरक्षा के लिए ऊंची दीवारों से घिरी हुई है। हालांकि, मुस्कान की फांसी को लेकर अभी कोई आधिकारिक प्रक्रिया शुरू नहीं हुई है, लेकिन शबनम की संभावित फांसी के दौरान भी यह चेंबर चर्चा में रहा था। आजादी के बाद से इस सुविधा पर किसी भी महिला को फांसी नहीं दी गई है।
