Tushar Gandhi Detained in Mumbai; Daughter Says He Needs Medicine

Mahatma Gandhi's great-grandson, Tushar Gandhi, was detained by police in Mumbai's Andheri West on Saturday and taken to the DN Nagar Police Station. His daughter, Kasturi Gandhi, stated that her father, a 66-year-old unarmed descendant of India's founders, was followed before being taken from his car. She shared a text message from him requesting his medicine and testimony from a driver who witnessed the incident. The driver reported that police approached their vehicle and took Gandhi away without explanation.

महात्मा गांधी के परपोते तुषार गांधी को शनिवार को मुंबई के अंधेरी वेस्ट में पुलिस ने हिरासत में लिया और डीएन नगर पुलिस स्टेशन ले गई। उनकी बेटी, कस्तूरी गांधी ने बताया कि उनके पिता, जो भारत के संस्थापकों के 66 वर्षीय निहत्थे वंशज हैं, का पीछा किया गया और फिर उनकी कार से ले जाया गया। उन्होंने अपने पिता का एक टेक्स्ट मैसेज साझा किया जिसमें उन्होंने अपनी दवा मांगी थी और उस ड्राइवर की गवाही भी साझा की जिसने घटना देखी थी। ड्राइवर ने बताया कि पुलिस उनके वाहन के पास आई और बिना किसी स्पष्टीकरण के गांधी को ले गई।
