Supreme Court Allows Re-assessment of Income Tax Case Against Former CJI's Sons

The Supreme Court has cleared the path for the Income Tax department to re-assess cases involving the sons of former Chief Justice of India YK Sabharwal. The court dismissed four appeals filed by Chetan Sabharwal and Nitin Sabharwal, upholding re-assessment notices for the financial years 2008-09 and 2009-10. The case concerns the use of funds from share sales and the purchase of property on Sikandra Road, Delhi. The IT department suspects discrepancies in the valuation of shares sold to fund the property acquisition.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने पूर्व मुख्य न्यायाधीश भारत के वाईके सभरवाल के बेटों से जुड़े मामलों के पुनर्मूल्यांकन के लिए आयकर विभाग का रास्ता साफ कर दिया है। अदालत ने चेतन सभरवाल और नितिन सभरवाल द्वारा दायर चार अपीलों को खारिज कर दिया, वित्तीय वर्ष 2008-09 और 2009-10 के लिए पुनर्मूल्यांकन नोटिसों को बरकरार रखा। यह मामला शेयर बिक्री से धन के उपयोग और दिल्ली में सिकंदरा रोड पर संपत्ति की खरीद से संबंधित है। आईटी विभाग संपत्ति अधिग्रहण को फंड करने के लिए बेचे गए शेयरों के मूल्यांकन में विसंगतियों का संदेह करता है।
