Following a stampede that killed 19 people and injured 25 at a Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata, the West Bengal government has formed a high-level committee to inspect safety arrangements at major pandals. The committee, including the Disaster Management Secretary and Fire Services Director General, began its tour. They will assess entry/exit points, lighting, and crowd management preparations at popular pandals. The administration is emphasizing wider exit points and adequate lighting to ensure smooth crowd movement during the festival.

कोलकाता में दुर्गा पूजा पंडाल में भगदड़ मचने से 19 लोगों की मौत हो गई और 25 घायल हो गए। इसके बाद पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार ने बड़े पंडालों में सुरक्षा व्यवस्था की जांच के लिए एक उच्च-स्तरीय समिति बनाई है। इस समिति में आपदा प्रबंधन सचिव और अग्निशमन सेवा महानिदेशक शामिल हैं, जिन्होंने दौरा शुरू कर दिया है। वे लोकप्रिय पंडालों में प्रवेश/निकास द्वारों, प्रकाश व्यवस्था और भीड़ प्रबंधन की तैयारियों का आकलन करेंगे। प्रशासन त्योहार के दौरान भीड़ के सुचारू आवागमन को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए चौड़े निकास द्वारों और पर्याप्त प्रकाश व्यवस्था पर जोर दे रहा है।
