She successfully cleared all subjects in her MD/MS examinations for Emergency Medicine at ESIC Medical College and Hospital. Dr. Paul faced immense challenges, including family rejection and financial struggles, after coming out as a transgender woman. She pursued legal action to overcome admission barriers for transgender candidates in postgraduate medical education, ultimately securing her seat through a court order.

हैदराबाद की डॉ. कोय्याला रूथ जॉन पॉल ने भारत में पोस्टग्रेजुएट मेडिकल कोर्स पूरा करने वाली पहली ट्रांसजेंडर व्यक्ति बनकर एक महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धि हासिल की है। उन्होंने ईएसआईसी मेडिकल कॉलेज और अस्पताल में इमरजेंसी मेडिसिन के लिए अपनी एमडी/एमएस परीक्षाओं के सभी विषयों को सफलतापूर्वक पास किया। ट्रांसजेंडर महिला के रूप में सामने आने के बाद डॉ. पॉल को पारिवारिक अस्वीकृति और वित्तीय संघर्ष सहित भारी चुनौतियों का सामना करना पड़ा। उन्होंने पोस्टग्रेजुएट मेडिकल शिक्षा में ट्रांसजेंडर उम्मीदवारों के लिए प्रवेश बाधाओं को दूर करने के लिए कानूनी कार्रवाई की, और अंततः अदालत के आदेश के माध्यम से अपनी सीट सुरक्षित की।
