The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has expanded to the Alimbongo health zone in North Kivu province, with four confirmed cases and two deaths reported as of October 6. The Bundibugyo virus is responsible for the outbreak, which has affected 64 health zones across seven DRC provinces, resulting in 8,728 confirmed cases and 4,205 deaths. Kenya confirmed its first imported case on October 6, a citizen who had been in the DRC and later died in Nairobi despite treatment.
