Hurricane Simon is slowly moving up Mexico's west-central coast, bringing wind and flooding rain. Previously, tropical weather systems caused five deaths and damage in Pacific coastal towns and resorts. Simon, a Category 1 storm with 90 mph winds, is forecast to remain a hurricane through midweek. In Baja California, rescuers searched for missing people after floods swept away vehicles and damaged homes, with at least four deaths reported there. The Mexican military rescued 32 people, including 22 foreigners, from a ranch.
