Times of India · interesting

In 1947, a Bedouin shepherd searching for livestock near the Dead Sea accidentally discovered a cave containing ancient manuscripts. Throwing a stone, he heard pottery shatter, leading to the discovery of what became known as the Dead Sea Scrolls. Between 1947 and 1956, researchers found thousands of fragments in 11 caves, primarily written in Hebrew and Aramaic. These scrolls, dated between the 3rd century BCE and 1st century CE, offer invaluable insights into Jewish religious life and history during the Second Temple period.
