North India Sees Unseasonal October Rains, Affecting Farmers

Large parts of North India, including Delhi-NCR, experienced unseasonal rains with strong winds, bringing a noticeable change in weather. While urban residents found relief from the heat, farmers are concerned as this period is crucial for harvesting paddy and other crops. The unseasonal showers are attributed to delayed monsoon withdrawal, moisture in the atmosphere, and Western Disturbances. This rainfall can benefit Rabi crops by retaining soil moisture and replenishing water bodies, but poses a significant risk to standing and harvested Kharif crops, potentially damaging their quality and storage.

दिल्ली-एनसीआर समेत उत्तर भारत के बड़े हिस्से में तेज हवाओं के साथ बेमौसम बारिश हुई, जिससे मौसम में बड़ा बदलाव आया है। जहाँ शहरी लोगों को गर्मी से राहत मिली, वहीं किसान चिंतित हैं क्योंकि यह धान और अन्य फसलों की कटाई का अहम समय है। इस बेमौसम बौछार का कारण मानसून की देरी से वापसी, वातावरण में नमी और पश्चिमी विक्षोभ को बताया जा रहा है। यह बारिश रबी फसलों के लिए मिट्टी में नमी बनाए रखने और जल निकायों को फिर से भरने में फायदेमंद हो सकती है, लेकिन खड़ी और कटी हुई खरीफ फसलों के लिए एक बड़ा खतरा है, जिससे उनकी गुणवत्ता और भंडारण को नुकसान पहुँच सकता है।
