The court cited their 17-year incarceration, with one appellant having a severe handicap and another being implicated late. This decision comes after the Supreme Court previously quashed the early release of 11 other convicts. The court noted that one appellant was not named in the initial FIR and was implicated nearly three years later.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने 2002 के बिलकिस बानो गैंगरेप और हत्या के मामले में दो दोषियों, बिपिनचंद कनाईलाल जोशी और प्रदीप रमनलाल मोधिया को जमानत दे दी है। अदालत ने उनकी 17 साल की कैद का हवाला दिया, जिसमें एक दोषी गंभीर रूप से विकलांग है और दूसरे को देर से फंसाया गया था। यह फैसला सुप्रीम कोर्ट द्वारा पहले 11 अन्य दोषियों की समय से पहले रिहाई रद्द करने के बाद आया है। अदालत ने कहा कि एक दोषी का नाम शुरुआती FIR में नहीं था और उसे लगभग तीन साल बाद फंसाया गया था।
