Several houses were set ablaze in the abandoned Khoikai Kuki village in Manipur's Kamjong district on Wednesday morning, escalating ethnic tensions. The village had been deserted by residents fleeing escalating clashes between the Kuki and Naga communities. Police reported suspected militants set the houses on fire around 5:30 a.m. This incident follows a period of significant violence, with over 50 people killed and dozens of houses burnt in ethnic clashes between the two tribal communities since early this year.
