NMC Withdraws 2023 Medical Education Rules, Removes College & Faculty Fines

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has immediately withdrawn the Maintenance of Standards of Medical Education Regulations, 2023. This action removes the framework that established fixed penalties for medical colleges violating prescribed standards. Consequently, fines of up to Rs 1 crore for colleges and Rs 5 lakh for faculty and administrators submitting false declarations are no longer applicable under these specific regulations. Medical institutions will, however, continue to be required to submit their Annual Disclosure Reports.

नेशनल मेडिकल कमीशन (NMC) ने मेंटेनेंस ऑफ स्टैंडर्ड्स ऑफ मेडिकल एजुकेशन रेगुलेशंस, 2023 को तुरंत वापस ले लिया है। इस कदम से उन नियमों को हटा दिया गया है, जिनके तहत तय मानकों का उल्लंघन करने वाले मेडिकल कॉलेजों के लिए निश्चित जुर्माने का ढांचा बनाया गया था। नतीजतन, कॉलेजों पर 1 करोड़ रुपये तक और गलत घोषणाएं जमा करने वाले फैकल्टी व प्रशासकों पर 5 लाख रुपये तक के जुर्माने इन विशिष्ट नियमों के तहत अब लागू नहीं होंगे। हालांकि, मेडिकल संस्थानों को अपनी वार्षिक प्रकटीकरण रिपोर्ट (Annual Disclosure Reports) जमा करनी जारी रखनी होगी।
