Goat Skin Bait Bomb Kills Wild Boar; Network Suspected

Times of India · environment

Forest officials revealed that dried goat skin was used to create a bait bomb that killed a wild boar in Odisha's Biripal reserve forest. The strong smell of the skin attracted the animal, which bit into the explosive-laced bait, causing a fatal blast. Crude bombs were reportedly manufactured in the neighbouring Deogarh district, not Angul. Forest authorities arrested four individuals and seized six live bait bombs, preventing further casualties. This incident highlights concerns over the cruel use of bait bombs for hunting, which pose risks to wildlife, livestock, and humans.
