CM Vijay's TVK Wins Dharapuram Bypoll; Stalin Calls It 'Betrayal's Victory'

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by CM Joseph Vijay, has won the Dharapuram Assembly bypoll, defeating the DMK by 9,471 votes. TVK candidate P Sathyabama secured 66,841 votes against DMK's Suganya. CM Vijay stated the victory was a vote against "defamatory speech targeting women," referencing a controversy involving DMK president M K Stalin. Stalin, however, slammed the bypolls as a "blatant murder of democracy" and TVK's gains an "interim victory for betrayal." He also accused the ruling party of misusing government authority and resources during the campaign.

सीएम जोसेफ विजय के नेतृत्व वाली तमिलगा वेट्टी कज़गम (TVK) ने धरपुरम विधानसभा उपचुनाव जीत लिया है, DMK को 9,471 वोटों से हराया है। TVK की उम्मीदवार पी सत्यभामा को DMK की सुकन्या के मुकाबले 66,841 वोट मिले। सीएम विजय ने कहा कि यह जीत 'महिलाओं को निशाना बनाने वाले अपमानजनक भाषण' के खिलाफ वोट है, जिसका जिक्र DMK अध्यक्ष एम के स्टालिन से जुड़े एक विवाद में किया गया था। हालांकि, स्टालिन ने उपचुनावों को 'लोकतंत्र की सरासर हत्या' और TVK की बढ़त को 'विश्वासघात की अंतरिम जीत' करार दिया। उन्होंने सत्तारूढ़ दल पर अभियान के दौरान सरकारी अधिकार और संसाधनों के दुरुपयोग का भी आरोप लगाया।
