The Hindu - International · world
Bulgaria has formally requested NATO deploy combat aircraft and anti-drone systems to enhance its defenses following recent drone attacks on commercial shipping in the Black Sea. Defence Minister Dimitar Stoyanov confirmed letters were sent to NATO leadership urging stronger capabilities and potential additional forces on Bulgarian territory. The attacks, including a commercial vessel sinking off Bulgaria's coast, highlight the growing threat from drone warfare linked to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Bulgaria also expects to join a NATO anti-drone initiative by the end of October.
