Scientists, policymakers, and researchers from around the world are attending the 17th International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant (ICMGP 2026) at IIT Hyderabad. This marks the first time India hosts the event, which focuses on mercury science, environmental health, and global policy under the theme of the Minamata Convention's enforcement. The six-day conference includes sessions on monitoring, biodiversity, mining, and the impact of mercury in cosmetics. A special session will address mercury in skin-lightening products, exploring health, identity, and environmental concerns.
