HRA Tax Benefit Rules: Can You Claim For Two Rented Homes?
TV9 Hindi · business
HRA offers a significant way to save taxes, but only under the old tax regime. Employees choosing the new tax system must pay tax on their entire HRA. The Income Tax Act, Section 10(13A), allows HRA tax exemption only for the accommodation where the employee actually resides. Therefore, claiming HRA benefits for a second property, such as a parent's home in another city, is not permissible even if the employee pays rent for it. Employees not receiving HRA can claim deductions under Section 80GG.
