BJP Leader Questions Actor Imran Khan's Citizenship Over Protest Participation

BJP politician Kirit Somaiya has raised questions regarding actor Imran Khan's citizenship after his participation in the August Kranti Maidan protest. Somaiya has written to the joint commissioner of police, seeking action against Khan for allegedly protesting as a foreign citizen. Khan stated he was present as a citizen concerned about restricted freedom of movement and repressed voices. Civil rights activist Mihir Desai noted that while citizens have fundamental rights to protest, foreigners have restricted rights under the Indian Constitution.

बीजेपी नेता किरीट सोमैया ने अभिनेता इमरान खान की नागरिकता पर सवाल उठाए हैं, क्योंकि उन्होंने अगस्त क्रांति मैदान विरोध प्रदर्शन में भाग लिया था। सोमैया ने पुलिस के संयुक्त आयुक्त को पत्र लिखकर खान के खिलाफ विदेशी नागरिक के तौर पर विरोध प्रदर्शन करने के आरोप में कार्रवाई की मांग की है। खान ने कहा कि वह आवाजाही की स्वतंत्रता पर प्रतिबंध और दबी हुई आवाजों को लेकर चिंतित एक नागरिक के तौर पर वहां मौजूद थे। नागरिक अधिकार कार्यकर्ता मिहिर देसाई ने कहा कि नागरिकों को विरोध करने का मौलिक अधिकार है, लेकिन विदेशियों के अधिकार भारतीय संविधान के तहत सीमित हैं।
