Hebbal Lake Revamp Six Months Away As Migratory Birds Arrive
Times of India · environment
Bengaluru's Hebbal Lake remains largely dry, with over 90 acres yet to undergo desilting, even as the winter migration season approaches. While newly developed wetlands have filled, the main waterbody's redevelopment is stalled. The second phase of the Rs 32-crore project, involving extensive desilting, is awaiting financial bids and could take six months post-tender award. Birdwatchers express concern over the prolonged dryness impacting the habitat of migratory birds, which arrive from October to March. The project aims to desilt, pitch embankments, install weirs, and develop wetlands.
