Kolar district in Karnataka is set to become the first to be prioritized under the state's ambitious net zero emission initiative. This move extends the state's climate action agenda to districts and urban local bodies. A dedicated net zero task force, chaired by Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, was recently constituted to develop a roadmap for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The district was chosen due to its significant horticultural sector, which is vulnerable to climate change impacts like the recent mango crisis.

कर्नाटक का कोलार जिला राज्य की महत्वाकांक्षी नेट ज़ीरो उत्सर्जन पहल के तहत प्राथमिकता पाने वाला पहला जिला बनने जा रहा है। इस कदम से राज्य के जलवायु कार्रवाई एजेंडे का विस्तार जिलों और शहरी स्थानीय निकायों तक हो गया है। हाल ही में मुख्यमंत्री डीके शिवकुमार की अध्यक्षता में एक समर्पित नेट ज़ीरो टास्क फोर्स का गठन किया गया था ताकि ग्रीनहाउस गैस उत्सर्जन को कम करने के लिए एक रोडमैप विकसित किया जा सके। जिले को इसके महत्वपूर्ण बागवानी क्षेत्र के कारण चुना गया था, जो हाल के आम संकट जैसे जलवायु परिवर्तन के प्रभावों के प्रति संवेदनशील है।
