Big Tech and Green Groups Forge Data Center Guidelines
Economic Times - Tech · technology
Major technology companies and environmental organizations are collaborating to establish national guidelines for data centers. The "Responsible Data Center Collaborative," including Google, Meta, and the Natural Resources Defense Council, began discussions in September and will continue until February 2027. Their aim is to create frameworks for energy, water usage, community impact, and transparency. This initiative comes as data centers face increasing scrutiny over their environmental footprint, including power consumption and water draw, and as communities express growing concerns about their local impact.
