Berlin Square Renamed After Jewish Anti-Fascist Resistance Fighter Eva Mamlok

Berlin's Blücherplatz has been renamed Eva-Mamlok-Platz to honor Eva Mamlok, a young Jewish woman who actively resisted Nazism from her teenage years until her death. Mamlok, born in 1918, was involved in underground resistance after Hitler's rise to power. As a teenager, she famously painted "Down with Hitler" on a department store roof. She was arrested in 1934 for participating in commemorations and held in protective custody at the Moringen concentration camp. Her story is now being shared more widely through the renaming.
