Ladakh Revives Shrinking Tso Kar Lake
NDTV · environment
Ladakh's Tso Kar lake, which lost 70% of its area in a decade, is being revived by the Union Territory administration. An ambitious plan aims to channel glacier water from the Rupsho Kharnak stream, located at over 18,000 feet, into the lake. This intervention will restore the fragile ecosystem, support migratory birds, and benefit local Pashmina goat herders by restoring grazing grounds.
