Diwali Firecrackers Terrify Street Animals, Vets Warn of Severe Distress

The Better India · lifestyle

Diwali celebrations pose significant risks to street animals due to firecracker noise and potential ingestion of discarded items. Veterinarian Dr. Vikas Godara highlights that loud noises cause extreme stress, anxiety, and physiological distress, including shock and potential cardiac complications. Unlike pets, street animals lack safe spaces and human comfort, making them highly vulnerable. Reports from 2025 documented numerous rescue cases during Diwali, underscoring the urgent need for community awareness and action to protect these animals during the festive season.
