TV9 Hindi · india
Chukhum village in Uttarakhand's Nainital district has been battling erosion and floods from the Kosi River for decades, with 60-70% of its land already lost. Villagers have sought relocation since 1993, but rehabilitation has been delayed for over three decades. The Nainital High Court has now ordered the state government to submit a forest land transfer proposal to the central government within four weeks. The court also directed the government to take effective steps for the rehabilitation of affected people in Chukhum and Amarpur without delay.
