Schools nationwide will observe holidays on October 19 and 20, 2026, for Durga Ashtami and Dussehra. States like Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Jharkhand, and Bihar are among those granting festive breaks, though holiday durations vary. October 19 marks Durga Ashtami, while October 20 is Dussehra, a gazetted holiday commemorating victory over evil. Students and parents must verify specific dates with their respective institutions, as schedules differ across states and educational boards. These closures align with the Navaratri and Durga Puja festivities, impacting academic calendars.
