Congress leaders in Shivamogga walked out of the Dasara inaugural ceremony on Sunday after the full version of the national song 'Vande Mataram' was presented. This action was taken in defiance of a State government order that restricts the song to its first two stanzas at official events. District Congress Committee president H.C. Yogesh stated that the programme was part of State government events and should have adhered to the directive. Other Congress leaders also left the stage in protest, highlighting a recent point of contention in the district.
