Chennai's Porur-Poonamallee metro line is set to open, but the road below remains in disarray. Motorists face narrow carriageways, damaged patches, and poorly managed U-turns on the Poonamallee–Porur High Road, which sees 10,000 vehicles hourly. While one side is wider, the other is significantly narrower, with unfinished road widening work causing congestion. Experts warn that inadequate road infrastructure alongside metro development could worsen existing bottlenecks and increase accident risks.

चेन्नई की पोरूर-पूनमल्ली मेट्रो लाइन खुलने वाली है, लेकिन नीचे की सड़क अभी भी अस्त-व्यस्त है। पूनमल्ली–पोरूर हाई रोड पर, जहाँ हर घंटे 10,000 वाहन चलते हैं, वाहन चालकों को संकरी सड़कें, टूटे हुए हिस्से और खराब तरीके से प्रबंधित यू-टर्न का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। जहाँ एक तरफ सड़क चौड़ी है, वहीं दूसरी तरफ काफी संकरी है, और सड़क चौड़ी करने का अधूरा काम जाम का कारण बन रहा है। विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि मेट्रो विकास के साथ-साथ सड़क के अपर्याप्त बुनियादी ढांचे से मौजूदा बाधाएँ और बढ़ सकती हैं और दुर्घटनाओं का खतरा बढ़ सकता है।
