Congress Snubbed Delimitation Talks, Govt Signals Parliament Session

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that the government consulted several opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party, DMK, and NCP (SP), on delimitation proposals. He indicated that talks with Congress could not proceed due to their unwillingness to engage. Rijiju's response to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's letter suggested that Parliament might be convened for a short session to pass the legislation. He also dismissed Kharge's concerns about the delay in proroguing the monsoon session, citing constitutional precedents.

संसदीय कार्य मंत्री किरेन रिजिजू ने कहा कि सरकार ने परिसीमन प्रस्तावों पर समाजवादी पार्टी, डीएमके और एनसीपी (एसपी) सहित कई विपक्षी दलों से सलाह ली थी। उन्होंने संकेत दिया कि कांग्रेस की अनिच्छा के कारण उनसे बातचीत आगे नहीं बढ़ सकी। कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे के पत्र के जवाब में रिजिजू ने कहा कि इस कानून को पारित करने के लिए संसद का एक छोटा सत्र बुलाया जा सकता है। उन्होंने संवैधानिक मिसालों का हवाला देते हुए मानसून सत्र को स्थगित करने में देरी के बारे में खड़गे की चिंताओं को भी खारिज कर दिया।
