FBI Links North Korean Hackers to $6.3 Billion Crypto Heist; Trump Questions Claim
Times of India · technology
The FBI has attributed the largest cryptocurrency heist in history, a $6.3 billion theft from Binance, to North Korean hackers. Investigators identified the group as TraderTraitor, previously linked to a $1.5 billion hack. The FBI expects the hackers to use DeFi platforms to convert and conceal the stolen assets, primarily into Ethereum. However, former US President Donald Trump expressed skepticism, stating investigators have not yet confirmed North Korea's involvement. Binance has assured customers that 90% of the stolen assets are covered by its reserves and full reimbursement will be provided.
