Kolkata's Durga Puja Embraces Sustainability with a Fistful of Rice Offering

Kolkata's fifth annual green Durga initiative, 'Shashya-er Shakti', is reimagining the festival by using paddy grains to create the central Durga idol. The 'Dhannyo Kalash' campaign invites citizens to contribute a fistful of rice, which will be transformed into Maha Bhog for orphanages and old-age homes. This initiative aims to highlight food grain as a symbol of nourishment and abundance, promoting sustainability and collective participation. Engagements are planned across residential associations, colleges, and neighbourhoods to integrate eco-conscious practices into festive celebrations, culminating in an open-air installation.

कोलकाता की पांचवीं वार्षिक हरित दुर्गा पहल, 'शश्या-एर् शक्ति', केंद्रीय दुर्गा प्रतिमा बनाने के लिए धान के दानों का उपयोग करके त्योहार को नया रूप दे रही है। 'धन्यो कलश' अभियान नागरिकों को एक मुट्ठी चावल का योगदान करने के लिए आमंत्रित करता है, जिसे अनाथालयों और वृद्धाश्रमों के लिए महा भोग में बदल दिया जाएगा। इस पहल का उद्देश्य भोजन अनाज को पोषण और प्रचुरता के प्रतीक के रूप में उजागर करना, टिकाऊपन और सामूहिक भागीदारी को बढ़ावा देना है। आवासीय संघों, कॉलेजों और पड़ोसों में पारिस्थितिक-सचेत प्रथाओं को उत्सव समारोहों में एकीकृत करने के लिए जुड़ाव की योजना बनाई गई है, जो एक खुली हवा में स्थापना के साथ समाप्त होगी।
