Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has revealed his reluctance towards sequels, often finding them to be mere rehashes of original films. He previously rejected offers for 'Baasha 2' and 'Petta 2', the latter of which would have expanded Vijay Sethupathi's role. Rajinikanth felt these proposals lacked a strong narrative justification for continuation. However, he found the setup for 'Jailer 2' compelling, particularly the ending that hinted at a larger connected network, making it a suitable story for a follow-up installment.
