US forces blew up an Ecuadorian fishing boat, the Don Rufo, in international waters near Ecuador, leaving ten crew members adrift. The US claims the vessel was a "floating refuelling station" for drug traffickers, a charge the fishers deny. Captain Mero Calderón stated they were "handcuffed and blindfolded" before their boat was destroyed. This incident is one of eight similar operations against Ecuadorian boats in recent weeks, with the support of Ecuador's president.
