West Bengal CM to Hand Out ₹25 Lakh Checks to Families of Durga Puja Stampede

West Bengal Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari announced that he will personally meet the families of the 19 victims of the Chorbagan Durga Puja pandal stampede and 21. He will hand out ₹25 lakh compensation checks to each family. The Chief Minister plans to travel by road to families within 50 km of Kolkata and use a helicopter for those further away, weather permitting. He also stated that a SIT will be formed to probe the incident, potentially headed by a sitting High Court judge.

पश्चिम बंगाल के मुख्यमंत्री शुभेंदु अधिकारी ने घोषणा की है कि वे चोरबगान दुर्गा पूजा पंडाल भगदड़ के 19 पीड़ितों के परिवारों से व्यक्तिगत रूप से मिलेंगे और 21। वह हर परिवार को 25 लाख रुपये के मुआवजे के चेक सौंपेंगे। मुख्यमंत्री की योजना कोलकाता से 50 किलोमीटर के भीतर रहने वाले परिवारों से सड़क मार्ग से मिलने की है और मौसम ठीक रहने पर दूर रहने वाले परिवारों के लिए हेलीकॉप्टर का उपयोग करेंगे। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि घटना की जांच के लिए एक एसआईटी का गठन किया जाएगा, जिसका नेतृत्व संभवतः एक मौजूदा हाई कोर्ट जज करेंगे।
