Sugarcane farmers in Karnataka have welcomed the Union Government's formation of a committee to address their demands for fair prices. However, they will continue their protest until the government revises the Minimum Selling Price for sugar and the Fair and Remunerative Price for sugarcane. Farmers are demanding a minimum price of ₹5,500 per tonne for sugarcane and ₹60 per kg for sugar. Leaders stated that fulfilling these demands would not impose an additional financial burden on the government.
